Shoes are often the culprit and cure. As they wear out, shoes can provide uneven support, or worse, none at all.
OUR 4 POINT GUIDE FOR SHOE TESTING
- Heel counters (area surrounding your heels) should be firm and not crushable.
- Shoe flex should occur only at the widest point of the shoe and NOT the arch.
- Torsional stability should be maintained so the shoe cannot be twisted like a wet dishrag.
- The shoe upper (above the sole) should not be shallow. Collar just below ankle
Evaluate shoes carefully before purchasing. A deep, firm heel counter provides more support and stability. Purchase shoes in the afternoon. Performance footwear sizing should be ½ to 1 full shoe size longer than the norm to allow room for push off and swelling.
